How to Meet 40 Goals in 12 Months

Before you completely cancel this out and say this is not reasonable, hear me out first.

When I tell people I’m a procrastinator, they don’t believe me. I’m a Virgo so I’m super organized and sometimes that can be mistaken for having it all together. But my best work is done under pressure which is a terrible way of working if you’re trying to set and meet goals. The truth is it’s hard to meet 40 completely different and separate goals in 12 months. If you try and do that, you’ll be running in a million directions and spreading yourself thin.

It’s easy to get the directions once you know the destination so if you start with sketching out the life you want first, it makes the steps leading up to it much easier to identify.

Step 1

I dive deep into the ore of my aspirations and define what success looks like in the 5 major areas of my life: Relationships, Career, Money, Spirituality, and Health.

Step 2

Once I know where I want to be 12 months from now, I document potential roadblocks that may prevent me from getting there.

Step 3

Then, I focus on the things that are within my control that if I change immediately, will help remove these roadblocks.

Step 4

I write 10 things I can do in the next 3 months that will yield “quick wins” - these are low to medium-effort goals that will have a significant impact on any of those 5 major life areas.

Step 5

In 3 months, “rinse and repeat” by going back to step 1 - has anything changed about what you want in the 5 areas of life? Make adjustments and repeat steps 2 through 5.
